THE OPEN CAST COALMINE IN DECAZEVILLE
Coal was exploited either by digging shafts and galleries or in open cast mining. This old, exceptionnally large open-cast coalmine was exploited from 1892 to 2001.

THE WAR MEMORIAL IN DECAZEVILLE
Work of André Galtié from 1934 (Rome award).
Each side of the monument has a bronze plaque representing peace, war, soldiers and coalminers. Above there is a miner's lamp.

 
SAINT PARTHEM

The village is situated in a confined and picturesque gorge. It is a region of market gardenning and wine. Slate roof and typical architecture.


SAINT SANTIN

Unique village for its double identity. St Santin is situated on two departments: Cantal and Aveyron and on two regions : Midi-Pyrénées and Auvergne.
So, we discover here two kinds of architecture.


LAROQUE BOUILLAC

Village situated in a confined gorge of the Lot, hold on a abrupt slope. Ruins of the castle (10th century), church of the 17th century.

To understand the history and the origin of the estofinado, gastronomic speciality of this area made with dried cod ("stockfish" from Northern Norway) and potatoes flavour with garlic, parsley and ail.
 

LOCKS OF BOISSE PENCHOT ET ROQUELONGUE


The Lot was an important waterway which allowed to transport goods to Bordeaux : merrains of sweet chestnut trees, coal of Decazeville... Today, with the future Lot rive navigable, works are in progress to rehabilitate the existing locks and create new one.
