From
1836, we extracted some coal in the site of the Vaysse,
until exhaustion of the coal field in 1884. The site
was then reforested with locust trees. This reafforestation
was indeed strategic: the wood of locust trees was
used to the woodwork of the subterranean mine galleries.
Today the Vaysse forest is a privileged place of relaxation,
in the heart of Decazeville area.
